See, Watch and Look – Quando usar

Qual é a diferença entre essas palavras

★ See

A verb that means that something passes through your eyes and you don’t need to be paying attention. ( então significa que alguma coisa passa pelos seus olhos, que você vê mas não, necessariamente está prestando atenção.)

Ex:

I saw my boyfriend yesterday. ( Eu vi meu namorado ontem)

I saw something strange and now I don’t know what to do. (Eu vi uma coisa estranha e agora eu não sei o que fazer.)

Humm, I see. ( Humm eu vejo: Significa algo que você está percebendo)

 

★ Look (at)

When we look at something means that we are paying attention, which means that we want to look at it. You may see something even if you don’t want to see it but usually you look at something because you want to. You also can use look to make people look at something.

Quando usamos “look” significa que você está prestando atenção no que está olhando, se você usar “look” é porque você quer olhar ou quer que alguém olhe algo mas a palavra “see” você pode usar para alguma coisa que você não queria ver ou não estava prestando atenção mas viu mesmo assim.

He looked at her and said the true. (Ele olhou para ela e disse a verdade)

Look at that big dog. (Olhe para aquele cachorro grande)

 

★ Watch

It has similar meaning to look but we use watch more likely to something that you are watching on tv, a play or any entertainment. (O significado é semelhante ao “look”, mas ele é mais usado quando você está assistindo algo na tv, uma peça, ou algum entretenimento)

Ex:

What are you doing? I am watching the soccer on tv. (O que você está fazendo: Eu estou assistindo futebol na Tv)

Watch him. – I am certain he is being bad to me (Aqui watch seria no sentido de olhar, assistir cuidar pois eu estou certa de que ele está fazendo algo de errado)

Don’t waste your time watching soap operas. (Não disperdice seu tempo assistindo novelas)

I watched a good movie at the cinema yesterday. ( Eu assisti um ótimo filme no cinema ontem )
